Listen now | Today’s movie is In the Mood For Love directed by Wong Kar-wai. We both agree on the visuals of this movie - it’s stunning. It’s certainly one of the best looking movies ever made. Where we disagree is on the rest of the film - Anna chooses to interpret it more loosely, while Casey insists that the movie is too literal to be interpreted in any other way. Both of us could probably use another viewing of the film to really decide what we think about it.
It's been a long time since I've watched this movie, but I'm pretty sure the core plot idea was that the main characters find out they're being cheated on by the same couple and try to reenact how it happend, hence the repetitive scenes/shots. So I'd say you can read the movie pretty literally based on that. And I can't think back to anything else pointing strongly at ambiguity of the kind Anna was describing, so I'd side with Casey here, but I really need to watch this movie again, it is a truly amazing piece of art.
